UNEP Climate Action Programme (Climate Action)

Established in 2007 and headquartered in London, UK, Climate Action works with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to establish and builds partnerships between business, government and public bodies to accelerate international sustainable development and advance the ‘green economy’. They do this by providing a global media and events platform across which stakeholders can share knowledge, technologies and expertise, and identify innovative solutions to the challenges faced by climate change and a growing population. www.climateactionprogramme.org

The brief:

To generate media interest in the Sustainable Innovation Forum as acting Communications Director,  COP19 Sustainable Innovation Summit, Warsaw, Poland. In it’s fourth year, the 2013 Sustainable Innovation Forum brought together leaders from business, government, finance and NGOs to catalyse innovation with the aim of accelerating green growth and sustainable development.

The output:

Co-ordinated the Press & Media Relations function for the COP19 Civil society & business stakeholder engagement event at a fringe COP19 event in Warsaw for 800 delegates. Co-ordinated press, interviews, developed key messaging, drafted and sent out press releases, developed and produced the press pack.

“Climate Action is centred on promoting effective partnerships between the public and private sector and helping create dialogue and knowledge transfer between corporates, international governments and NGOs with the acceleration of the global green economy the ultimate aim.”
